For the Ribs:

  • 2–3 lbs beef short ribs or back ribs

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for searing)

For the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • Β½ cup honey

  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, adds depth)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Β½ tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

1. Preheat & Season:

Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).
Season ribs generously with salt and pepper.

2. Sear (Optional but recommended):

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Sear ribs for 1–2 minutes on each side until browned. This locks in flavor.

3. Make the Sauce:

In a small saucepan, combine:

  • Honey, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, vinegar, hoisin (if using), sesame oil, and pepper.

Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let it bubble gently for 3–5 minutes.

Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce. Cook another 2 minutes until thick and glossy.

4. Bake the Ribs:

Place ribs in a baking dish or foil-lined pan. Pour half the sauce over them. Cover tightly with foil.

Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until fork-tender.

5. Glaze & Broil:

Uncover ribs. Brush with remaining sauce.
Broil on high for 3–5 minutes, until caramelized and sticky (watch closely to avoid burning).

  • Toasted sesame seeds

  • Sliced green onions

  • Chopped cilantro

  • Lime wedges for extra zing

  • You can use a slow cooker instead: Cook ribs on low for 6–8 hours, then glaze under the broiler.
