Making lemon powder is very easy

🍋 Making lemon powder at home is quite simple, and it’s a great way to preserve lemon flavor for baking, seasoning, teas, and marinades. Here’s how you can do it:

How to Make Lemon Powder

Ingredients:

  • Fresh lemons (organic preferred, since you’ll use the peel)

Steps:

  1. Wash & Dry: Scrub the lemons well to remove wax or residue. Pat them completely dry.

  2. Peel or Slice:

    • For zest-only powder: Use a peeler or zester to remove just the yellow peel (avoid the bitter white pith).

    • For whole slices: Slice lemons very thin (about ⅛ inch).

  3. Drying Methods:

    • Dehydrator: Place peels or slices in a single layer and dry at 95–115°F (35–46°C) until crisp (6–12 hours).

    • Oven: Set oven to the lowest temperature (usually 150–170°F / 65–75°C). Place on a parchment-lined tray and dry for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway. Keep oven door slightly open to let moisture escape.

    • Air-dry (zest only): Spread zest on a plate and leave in a dry spot for 2–3 days until brittle.

  4. Grind: Once completely dry, grind peels or slices into a fine powder using a spice grinder, blender, or mortar & pestle.

  5. Store: Transfer to an airtight jar and keep in a cool, dark place. Lasts 6–12 months.

Uses for Lemon Powder:

  • Stir into teas, smoothies, or lemonade.
