Homemade Salsa

simple and delicious recipe for homemade salsa:

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 tsp sugar (to balance acidity if needed)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the vegetables: Dice the tomatoes, finely chop the red onion, mince the jalapeño and garlic, and chop the cilantro.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro.
  3. Add lime juice: Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture.
  4. Season: Add salt and pepper to taste. If the salsa is too acidic, you can add a teaspoon of sugar.
  5. Mix well: Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Chill: For best flavor, cover the salsa and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Adjust spiciness: If you like your salsa spicier, leave some of the jalapeño seeds in. For a milder salsa, use only half a jalapeño or substitute with a milder pepper.
  • Add-ins: You can add corn, black beans, or avocado for extra texture and flavor.
  • Freshness: Use the freshest ingredients possible for the best taste.
