Homemade Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp hot water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add to the mixture, along with the salt.
  4. Gradually blend in the flour. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
  5. Drop large spoonfuls of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are nicely browned. Let them cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
