Here’s a Gluten-Free Krispy Kreme–Style Donut Recipe — light, fluffy, fried to perfection, and glazed with that signature sweet shine. These are yeast-raised donuts with a tender crumb and melt-in-your-mouth texture — all without gluten!

🍩 Gluten-Free Krispy Kreme Style Donuts

📝 Ingredients:

For the Donuts (makes ~12 small donuts):

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C) — dairy or unsweetened almond milk

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2¼ cups gluten-free all-purpose flour blend (with xanthan gum) — e.g., Bob’s Red Mill 1:1

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)

For the Glaze:

  • 1½ cups powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

🍽️ Instructions:

1. Activate Yeast:

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar.

  • Sprinkle in the yeast, stir, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2. Make the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk egg, melted butter, and vanilla.

  • Add the activated yeast mixture.

  • Slowly mix in the gluten-free flour and salt.

  • Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. Add 1–2 tbsp more flour if too sticky.

3. Let It Rise:

  • Cover bowl with a towel or plastic wrap.

  • Let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1½ hours, until nearly doubled.

4. Shape the Donuts:

  • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface (use GF flour).

  • Gently pat it out to ½-inch thick.

  • Cut with a donut cutter (or large round cutter + small center cutter).

  • Place on parchment squares on a tray. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.

5. Fry:

  • Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).

  • Fry donuts 1–2 at a time, ~1 minute per side, until golden.

  • Drain on paper towels.

6. Glaze:

  • Mix glaze ingredients in a bowl until smooth.

  • Dip warm donuts face-down into glaze, let excess drip, and place on a rack to set.

✅ Tips:

  • For extra Krispy Kreme softness, add 1 tbsp cornstarch to your flour mix.

  • Don’t over-fry — they should stay light in color.

  • Let the glaze set 5–10 minutes for that shiny shell!
