Gluten-Free Chocolate Apple Cake Recipe

This moist and decadent Gluten-Free Chocolate Apple Cake combines the richness of chocolate with the natural sweetness of apples for a dessert that’s both comforting and indulgent. Perfect for fall or any time you have fresh apples on hand, this cake is flourless, gluten-free, and made with simple pantry ingredients. Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or just want a treat with your afternoon tea, this recipe is sure to impress.

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and finely grated (about 1½ cups)

  • 1 cup almond flour

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)

  • 2 large eggs

  • ¼ cup olive oil or melted coconut oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips (optional but delicious)

  • Instructions:

    1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch round or square cake pan with parchment paper.

    2. Grate the apples and set aside. No need to squeeze out the moisture.

    3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, vanilla, and coconut sugar until smooth.

    4. Add almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir until combined.

    5. Fold in the grated apples and chocolate chips if using. The batter will be thick.

    6. Pour into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

    7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).

    8. Cool completely in the pan before removing. Serve as is, or dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate.

      Tips:

      • For extra decadence, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

      • This cake keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days and tastes even better the next day.
