There’s nothing quite like the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread, and these gluten-free bread rolls make sure no one has to miss out! Soft, fluffy, and with just the right amount of chew, these rolls are perfect for sandwiches,
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
- 2 1/2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour (with xanthan gum included)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup melted butter (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum (if not already in your flour blend)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, honey (or sugar), and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, salt, baking powder, and xanthan gum (if needed).
- Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter, egg, apple cider vinegar, and the activated yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.
- Knead the Dough: Using a stand mixer with a dough hook or a spatula, mix until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.
- Shape the Rolls: Lightly grease your hands with olive oil and shape the dough into equal-sized balls. Place them in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving some space between each roll.
- Let Rise: Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes until nearly doubled in size.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil for a golden crust. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned and firm to the touch.
- Cool & Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with butter or your favorite spread!
Tips:
- If your flour blend does not contain xanthan gum, be sure to add it separately to achieve the right texture.
- For an extra soft texture, place a shallow pan of water in the oven while baking to create steam.
- These rolls store well in an airtight container for up to 2 days or can be frozen for later enjoyment.
Now you can enjoy homemade, gluten-free bread rolls that are just as satisfying as their wheat-based counterparts!
