🍫 Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed

  • ½ cup (100g) white sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

  • Optional: flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.

  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla, whisking until fully combined.

  4. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt just until no dry spots remain — don’t overmix.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan. (Tip: use a spatula or slightly wet fingers to smooth the top.)

  7. Press a few extra chocolate chips on top for a bakery-style look.

  8. Bake for 22–28 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.

  9. Optional: Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while warm.

  10. Let cool in the pan for 15–20 minutes before slicing into bars.

📝 Notes:

  • For gooey bars, underbake slightly and let them finish setting while cooling.

  • Swap chocolate chips with chopped nuts, white chocolate, or peanut butter chips if desired.

  • Keeps well for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
