  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Optional Toppings:

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped green onions

  • Instructions

    1. Sauté Vegetables:
Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, cooking for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
    2. Brown the Beef:
Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain any excess grease if necessary.
    3. Add Spices and Tomato Base:
Stir in cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, oregano, cayenne (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the beef and vegetables. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth.
    4. Incorporate Beans:
Stir in the kidney beans and black beans. Bring the chili to a gentle simmer.
    5. Simmer:
Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the chili simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Adjust seasoning to taste as it cooks.
    6. Serve:
Ladle the chili into bowls and top with your choice of toppings. Serve hot with cornbread or tortilla chips on the side.
    7. Enjoy this classic beef chili, packed with bold flavors and warmth for any occasion!
