Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!
