Servings: 6 patties
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes

🧂 Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) ground chicken

  • 1 small onion, finely grated

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes for extra crunch)

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (adds juiciness)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or coriander

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For coating:

  • ½ cup flour

  • 1 beaten egg

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

For frying:

  • Oil for shallow or deep frying

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Mix the Patty Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, grated onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

  2. Shape the Patties:
With oiled hands, divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into flat, round patties. Place on a tray lined with parchment paper.

  3. Coat the Patties:
Dredge each patty lightly in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat in breadcrumbs. This gives a lovely crispy crust.

  4. Chill (optional):
For firmer patties, refrigerate for 15–20 minutes before frying.

  5. Fry Until Golden:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 75°C / 165°F).

  6. Drain & Serve:
Remove onto paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup, garlic mayo, or mint yogurt sauce.
