Fluffy, buttery, and irresistibly tender, these Butter Swim Biscuits are a Southern classic made effortlessly in a pool of melted butter. The result is a biscuit with a golden crust, moist center, and rich flavor in every bite. Perfect for breakfast, dinner, or soaking up gravy or jam!
Ingredients:
-
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
4 tsp baking powder
-
1 tbsp granulated sugar
-
1 ½ tsp salt
-
1 ¾ cups buttermilk
-
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
-
Instructions:
-
Preheat Oven to 450°F (230°C).
-
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. -
Add Buttermilk:
Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until combined. Don’t overmix – the dough will be sticky. -
Melt Butter:
Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish. Spread it evenly to coat the bottom. -
Add Dough to Butter:
Drop the biscuit dough into the dish and use a spatula to gently spread it out evenly. The butter will rise around the dough – that’s the magic! -
Score the Dough:
Using a knife, cut the dough into 9 squares (3×3 pattern). This helps them bake evenly and makes it easier to separate later. -
Bake:
Bake for 25–28 minutes, or until golden brown on top and set in the center. -
Cool & Serve:
Let sit for a few minutes before serving. Best enjoyed warm! -
Optional Add-ons:
-
Serve with honey, jam, or sausage gravy.
-
Add shredded cheddar and a pinch of garlic powder for a cheesy twist!
