  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, and chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a generous sprinkling of mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
