Ingredients:
For the Bread:
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 ½ tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp baking soda
-
½ tsp salt
-
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
½ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
-
2 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 2 medium)
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
-
¼ cup granulated sugar
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
-
½ cup powdered sugar
-
1–2 tbsp milk
-
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
-
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.
-
Mix in sour cream, then gradually add dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chopped apples.
-
In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon swirl sugar and cinnamon.
-
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half the cinnamon sugar mixture, then repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon sugar. Swirl gently with a knife.
-
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
-
For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
-
Slice and enjoy the soft, cinnamon-apple goodness with its sweet glaze topping.
I can also give you a caramel glaze version of this recipe if you want it extra indulgent.
