Ingredients:

For the Fritters:

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp milk

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Batter:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Add wet ingredients to the dry and stir until just combined. Fold in diced apples.

    2. Heat Oil:
Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot (about 2 inches deep) and heat to 350°F (175°C).

    3. Fry the Fritters:
Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

    4. Drain:
Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

    5. Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters or dip them directly into the glaze.

    6. Tips:

      • Serve warm for the best texture.

      • Try adding a pinch of nutmeg for extra warmth.

      • Best enjoyed the same day they’re made!
