-
1 tbsp sugar
-
2 ยผ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
-
ยพ tsp salt
-
1 tsp baking powder
-
ยพ cup warm milk (about 110ยฐF)
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
-
1 large egg, room temperature
-
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
-
Instructions:
-
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Stir in yeast and let it sit for 5โ10 minutes until frothy. -
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, salt, and baking powder. -
Combine Wet Ingredients
Add the melted butter, egg, vinegar, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a sticky dough forms. If the dough is too stiff, add a tablespoon of warm milk at a time. -
First Rise
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 45โ60 minutes, or until slightly puffy. -
Shape the Rolls
Grease a muffin tin or 9-inch round baking dish. Lightly flour your hands and divide the dough into 8โ10 balls. Flatten each ball into a circle, then fold it in half and place seam-side down in the dish. -
Second Rise
Cover and let rise again for 20โ30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). -
Bake
Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 20โ25 minutes, until golden brown. -
Finish with Butter
While still warm, brush again with butter for that signature Parker House shine and softness.Tips:
-
Use a high-quality gluten-free flour blend with xanthan gum or add 1 tsp if your mix doesnโt include it.
-
For extra flavor, infuse the melted butter with garlic or herbs.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container and warm gently before serving.
