Homemade Mangonadas Margaritas

This tropical twist on a traditional margarita blends ripe mango, tart lime, smooth tequila, and spicy chamoy for the ultimate frozen cocktail.The balance of sweet mango, spicy Tajín, and citrusy tequila makes every sip irresistible.

Ingredients

For the Mangonada Margarita:

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 4 oz tequila (silver or reposado)
  • 2 oz orange liqueur (Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier)
  • 3 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz mango nectar or orange juice
  • 1–2 tbsp agave syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 cup ice

For Garnish:

  • Chamoy sauce (for drizzling)
  • Tajín seasoning (for rimming the glass)
  • Mango slices (for garnish)
  • Tamarind candy stick (Tarugos) (optional but delicious!)
  • Instructions

    1. Prepare the Glasses:

    1. Pour some chamoy onto a small plate and Tajín onto another.
    2. Dip the rim of each glass into the chamoy, then coat it in Tajín for that signature sweet-and-spicy kick.

    2. Blend the Margarita:

    1. In a blender, combine frozen mango, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, mango nectar, and ice.
    2. Blend until smooth and slushy. If you prefer it thicker, add more ice. If it’s too thick, add a splash of mango nectar.
    3. Taste and adjust sweetness with agave syrup if needed.

    3. Assemble the Drink:

    1. Drizzle chamoy inside the glasses for extra flavor and aesthetic.
    2. Pour the blended margarita into the prepared glasses.
    3. Garnish with a mango slice and a tamarind candy stick.
    4. Sprinkle a little extra Tajín on top for extra spice.
