Philly Cheesesteak Roll Ups

Philly Cheesesteak Roll Ups are a fun and flavorful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Perfect for appetizers, party snacks, or a quick dinner, these roll-ups combine tender steak, melty cheese, and sautéed veggies wrapped in a crispy, golden crust.

Ingredients (Makes about 8 roll-ups)

  • 1 lb (450g) thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin works best)
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can crescent roll dough (or use pizza dough for a sturdier wrap)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: a side of warm marinara or cheese sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Push veggies to the side of the skillet and add the sliced steak. Cook until browned and tender, about 2-3 minutes. Combine with the veggies and sprinkle with garlic powder. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the Roll Ups:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the crescent dough or pizza dough on a clean surface. If using crescent dough, separate it into triangles.
    • Place a spoonful of the steak mixture on the wide end of each dough triangle. Top with a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
    • Roll up the dough, starting from the wide end, and tuck the edges as needed to secure the filling.
  3. Bake:
    • Place the roll-ups seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy the cheesy, savory goodness!
