Flatbreads are a simple yet versatile side that can elevate any meal. Whether you use them as a base for pizza, a side for soups, or simply as a delicious snack, this garlic and butter version brings a rich, savory flavor to your table.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Extra olive oil for cooking
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3-4 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Shape the Flatbreads:
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten with a rolling pin into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cook the Flatbreads:
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with olive oil.
- Place the flatbreads one at a time into the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and lightly charred in spots. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Garlic Butter:
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
- Remove from heat and stir in the fresh parsley.
- Brush and Serve:
- Brush the cooked flatbreads with the garlic butter while they are still warm. Serve immediately as a side dish or enjoy on their own!
This buttery, garlic-infused flatbread pairs wonderfully with dips, soups, or even as a base for light toppings. Enjoy the richness and aroma with every bite!
